City staff vindicated in Cole harassment claims

The City of Edmonds has released a much-anticipated report on allegations by former mayor’s executive assistant Kimberly Cole of a hostile work environment and harassment.

The city hired an independent investigator, Jim Webber of Kirkland, to look into Cole’s allegations.

Ms. Cole had leveled 14 specific allegations of harassment against her, e.g., that city employees other than her supervisor allegedly monitored her time; that she received “hang-up” calls; that someone allegedly went through things on her desk when she was not there; and that someone may have “bugged” her office.

 

Most of the claims were determined to have no merit or were deemed not harassment.

Webber’s report was completed through interviews with 20 city employees and officials, reviews of emails and city policies, and using news stories as background.
