Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 365 calls the week of Aug. 19-25: 297 emergency medical aid calls, 20 fires, 17 motor vehicle collisions, seven service calls, 17 automatic fire alarms, three natural gas leaks, two technical rescue calls and two hazardous materials responses.
August 19
COLLISION. At 1 a.m., two cars collided on northbound I-5 north of 128th St. SW. One car came to rest on its side on the right side of the freeway. Firefighters transported one patient to Stevens Hospital and one patient to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
COLLISION. At 5:12 p.m., firefighters responded to a multi-car collision on the ramp from southbound SR 525 to southbound I-5. Three patients were transported to area hospitals.
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SPILL. At 7:10 p.m., firefighters were called to the Fred Meyer store in the 2900 block of 164th St. SW north of Lynnwood after a semi-truck hit a pole at the gas pump. The impact ruptured the truck’s gas tank and spilled about 30 gallons of fuel. Firefighters set up dams to contain the fuel and used absorbent materials to clean up the spill.
COLLISION. At 7:58 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Stevens Hospital after responding to a car that collided with a parked vehicle in the 500 block of Maple St. in Edmonds.
August 24
BRUSH FIRE. At 7:05 p.m., firefighters responded to a brush fire at a home in the 21400 block of 4th Ave. W east of Brier.
COLLISION. At 7:36 p.m., firefighters responded to a work truck that crashed into a power pole in the 13300 block of Manor Way north of Lynnwood. There were no injuries. The power pole was broken in half and was blocking the road at Manor Way and Admiralty Way. Firefighters stood by until the PUD could respond to deal with the downed pole and wires.
August 25
KITCHEN FIRE. At 5:01 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire in an apartment in the 11500 block of 12th Ave. W south of Everett. They arrived to find that a sprinkler head had deployed and extinguished the fire. Fire damage was contained to a small area of the kitchen around the stove.
August 26
COLLISION. At 9:57 a.m., firefighters transported one patient to Northwest Hospital after responding to a two-car collision at 220th St. SW and 84th Ave. W in Edmonds.
CAR FIRE. At 12:50 p.m., firefighters responded to a car fire in the 15700 block of Highway 99 north of Lynnwood.
