This summer marks the ten-year anniversary of Edmonds Vision Center in downtown Edmonds.
Current owners and husband and wife team, Dr. Art Wong and Dr. Kathy Solum, have brought new style and technology to their clients as well as community programs focused on better eye health for young and old.
They have several events planned during their anniversary celebration to benefit their customers and the local community.
When first establishing their practice in Edmonds Drs. Wong and Solum decided on a mission of providing cutting-edge technology in the area of diagnostic equipment as well as in the lenses and eyewear solutions offered.
Just two years ago Edmonds Vision Center became one of the first offices in the Northwest to offer Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), an instrument to allow doctors to see cross-sectional images of the retina.
Along with their equipment, they also provide some of the most advanced lenses on the market including Hoya and Shamir products.
To express their thanks to the community for 10 years of support and patronage, Drs. Wong and Solum and their staff at Edmonds Vision Center have planned six months of community-focused programs.
In August, they will be holding a food drive to contribute to the Edmonds Food Bank. Participants in the food drive will be given a coupon, which can be used within the year for 10 percent off any sun or prescription eyewear purchase.
September will be focused on spreading the word about InfantSEE, a public health program, which provides eye exams at no cost for infants between the ages of six to twelve months, a crucial time for assessing potential vision problems.
Dr. Solum is one of only a few doctors within the area that provides this service. October will include a drive for recycled eyewear to contribute to the Lion’s Club Recycle for Sight program.
November and December will focus on their holiday giving program to help supply presents and needed basics for homeless families staying at the Kiwanis House transitional housing during the holiday season.
During the anniversary celebration, Edmonds Vision Center will also be hosting several “trunk” shows giving customers the opportunity to talk directly with eyewear vendors and receive day of show discounts on both sport and everyday eyewear.
Currently booked are ProDesign (Aug 5), Tura (Aug 6), Nike (Aug 6), and Face-a-Face (Aug 7). More details are available on their website at www.edmondsvisioncenter.com.
