The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program sponsored by Catholic Community Services held the 38th annual volunteer recognition with two luncheons attended by over 300 RSVP volunteers.
Highlights of the events included remarks by Mayor Ray Stephanson and Senator Jean Berkey and presentation of the President’s Lifetime Service Awards.
The Call to Service Award is reserved for volunteers with over 4,000 hours of community service.
Recipients receive a President’s Call to Service pin, a certificate from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation and a letter from President Obama.
This years President’s Lifetime Service Award winners from The South County Senior Center in Edmonds are: Elsie Krueger, Mary Ann Malchow, Helen Miller and Evangeline Mitchell.
Last year in Snohomish County, 1,039 RSVP volunteers supported 81 not for profit agencies and organizations with over 165,000 hours of volunteer service.
The value of that service is over 3.3 million dollars!
