Dear Mayor Haakenson and council members:
As a concerned citizen who helped save Yost Pool (2009) I would like you to review your thinking on the future of Yost.

Yost is unique and is the only outdoor pool between Everett and Renton.
It makes sense to spend less money in these economic times, than to have a huge deficit to pay on for the next 20 years.

The facility as proposed – indoor pool year around and a three month outdoor “amusement park” with at most three lap lanes for $16 million dollars – how much revenue could this outdoor facility bring to offset a 20 year expense?

Our two neighboring cities, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace, along with the new YMCA all have this. The YMCA is all indoors.

As a taxpayer, I would be financially ahead to use the new facility being built by the same consultants in Lynnwood and not have to pay taxes on it for 20 years.

My belief is that the city should hire a professional manager and spend an estimated $618,000 to bring Yost Pool up to the 21st century.
This figure is from page 35 of the feasibility study list, which included Rich Lindsay’s list of defects that would cost Yost to close.
It became apparent to the concerned citizens for Yost how important Yost is… to raise $55,000 in less than three weeks.

People were saving Yost as it is, NOT as a new amusement park.
Please consider your choices on Yost. Thank you for considering other options.
