My husband joined the Sno-King Community Chorale three years ago. He joined the choir both for the joy of singing as well as desiring to be part of a group that gives back to the community.
Since that time, I have attended all of the chorale’s concerts. I am continually amazed and delighted at the quality of the concerts this non-profit group of performers puts forth. I also feel they are one of the best values we have available in the Edmonds performing arts arena. It seems to me every concert I go to is better than the last.
This was the case recently when I attended their “Concert for Kids of All Ages” at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. It featured not only the host, the Sno-King Chorale, but several award winning choirs from around our area, with accomplished performers ranging in age from teens to seniors. It was a most enjoyable and moving concert showcasing some of our local talent.
Unfortunately, I was also amazed at the very sparse attendance. It was surprising and disheartening to see all the vacant seats. Here were wonderful and talented local performers with seemingly little local support. There is sizable cost putting on these events. With chorale ticket prices close to what a movie ticket costs, this live local talent at a beautiful venue is a bargain, not only for the pocket book, but for the soul as well.
Come join me for SKCC’s next show March 20th. Although most performances take place at ECA, this performance venue will be the Trinity Lutheran Church in Edmonds. A more intimate setting as director Frank DeMiero leads his chorale in Karl Jenkins’ Armed Man, A Mass for Peace. This features music from all over the world in a stirring call for peace. I guarantee you, you’ll be glad you did.
