This July 19 – 24 was the Emotionally Free® Seminars that I’ve had a part in presenting for over 20 years. Very diverse groups of people come from a variety of cultures, denominations, states, and countries.
We use Scripture, personal testimonies, and PowerPoint illustrations with inspired words, small group discussion, and most importantly, a large portion of time for individual healing prayers. As you can imagine, this takes quite a bit of preparation.
Shirley Wilson, National Lead Facilitator, works meticulously placing individuals in the most appropriate small groups. As CEO, planner, and co-teacher, my sleep often is shortened during these six days.
What I’d call the “anointing of the Holy Spirit” is what carries me through, with limited sleep each night. Amazingly at the end of the event, I am still full of energy. I am quick to get back to my proper sleep right after the event concludes. I believe in taking care of my “temple of the Holy Spirit” (I Corinthians 6:19).
“Gift of Energy”
One of the students who is a pastor, from California, is in recovery from a 10-year medical challenge. Before he arrived he said, “I don’t think I’ll be able to stay at the seminar all day but will have to take time off in the afternoons and evenings.” Yet he never did return to his apartment during the day, or early evening, but was one of the last attendees to leave each night!
One of the special reasons why some facilitators have worked with me annually for 15 or more years is that people truly receive emotional and sometimes physical and spiritual healing. Professional counselor, Judy Glenn has said, “I like to send my new counselees to the Emotionally Free Seminars – if possible both Basic and Advanced – as it takes off about a year of counseling time.”
“Receive Anointing” As an example, David who wrote the 23rd Psalm was anointed with oil as King of Israel by the Prophet Samuel.
Jesus says of Himself and His own anointing: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” (Luke 4:18 KJV).
What I like about my own calling is that Jesus’ anointing comes to our meetings. Recently at the seminars in July, I saw it again: Many of the brokenhearted from divorce, and sexual and emotional abuse, were healed.
A couple who were only acquaintances last year, following the seminar and their inner healings – fell in love. They were married just before our July 2010 seminars this year. They told me that they wanted to take the Advanced Course again, and spend part of their honeymoon with us at the Embassy Suites Hotel.
In another of our sessions, we have biblical teaching and prayer for “deliverance to the captives.” Many were freed from cult and occult practices that had them bound (Deuteronomy 18:9 –14). We may also pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit as it’s important for staying free.
Many who had been “bruised” in life were “set at liberty.” Harsh, critical words spoken to a child, or young adult, can set them up for failure. It, however, is never too late for healing as we go back to the scene – this time with our omnipresent, healing Lord. We tell Him of our pain and in listening prayer – hear what He is saying to us with His unconditional love. Of course, then speaking forgiveness in prayer is a major part of the healing also.
The Book of Acts says, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; Who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed . . .” (Acts 10:38).
“Your Prayer”
You too can be anointed. Just take a few minutes to pray now and ask Jesus: “Come into my life, please give me Your peace and Spirit-filled anointing. I want to be like You, Lord, and ‘do good’ everywhere I go. Amen.”
Now take a deep breath and close your eyes and wait in His presence. When ready, slowly repeat the 23rd Psalm.
