Here it is February 14, and I’m already thinking of spring. It happened when I was at the QFC grocery store and walked by trays of yellow, magenta, and blue primroses. The price was luring at one dollar a posy in an individual black plastic container.

In the 14th year of his reign as King of Judah, at age 39, he became seriously ill.

When we closed the story of Hezekiah, the King of Judah, last week, he and his leaders had been under attack. King Sennacherib of Assyria and his army field commander attempted various techniques on Hezekiah to make him give up the capital of Jerusalem. How serious is that one might ask?

Hezekiah was one of the better Kings of Judah. He did quite a number of noteworthy acts that pleased God. He closed down the “high places.” You man wonder what a “high place” is?

Where did evil come from? Looking at biblical history that is about 6,000 years, we can see from God’s viewpoint. In the beginning God created human beings and gave them free will to choose right or wrong.

Tonight I received a phone call from a man who had recently seen a Trinity Broadcasting Network rerun of my late husband Dennis Bennett and I, 25 years ago. Jack (pseudonym) said, “I’m trying to find my way after the recent loss of my wife. At times there is peace and at other times there is panic. Do you have any suggestions for overcoming grief?”

December 28th, 2010, I went to The Edmonds Theater to see C.S. Lewis’s third novel, “Voyage of the Dawn Treader” in a movie format. The story begins when Edmund and Lucy had just arrived at their Uncle Harold’s House at a country village in England. Their parents were in America for several months.

I always experience a tingle of excitement when a New Year is ready to begin. In December, some of the possibilities for next year showed up on my desk.

Joseph and Mary were betrothed (engaged) which in the Jewish culture was as binding as actual marriage. To break the betrothal one had to obtain a divorce. The relationship was not to be consummated until the marriage. It is believed that Mary was in her late teens and Joseph was somewhat older.

In the early days of the nations of Judah and Israel, they had trouble getting involved with the negatives in the culture of their day.

I was sitting with my friend Carolyn having a latte following Bible Study. I asked her, “What seemed to impact you in our study of Isaiah in class tonight?”

How did a legitimate prophet of ancient days get a serious message from God to an entire nation? There wasn’t television, internet and iPods, Tweeter messaging, You-Tube to send video or photos, no E-mail, nor radio – to warn their world.

This Thanksgiving Season you and I have a lot to be thankful for. Here’s my list I have just written for you.

As I study Isaiah’s prophecies of human errors and wars, and as humanity ignores lessons learned from parents, teachers, pastors, rabbis, priests, there are results. It’s hard to read about mistakes of millennia past that continue on today.

My daughter was ill last week, nothing serious but enough to keep her resting at home one day, watching movies and sending text messages to her father, little updates on her time off.

Why is knowing the future through occult ways luring to multitudes of people today and in millennia past? Some of the avenues for these activities are: fortune telling through planets (astrology), cards, horoscopes, reading people’s minds (clairvoyance), or being a medium or channeler talking to the dead (necromancy), to name a few.

In our last Isaiah study, it was revealed to King Ahaz that the powerful King of Assyria would invade the Kingdom of Judah in three years.

We’ve been learning about the Prophet Isaiah as we dipped into his first six chapters. It was exciting to learn about his changed his life, and the preparation for his call to save the people of his own tribe of Judah (ref. Adam Clarke). Last week was my newsbreak regarding Chilean miners. We now return to Isaiah in chapter seven.

For three days, October 11 – 13, 2010, I was glued to my television screen, watching the miraculous news from Chile. Thirty-three miners were still alive even though they had very little to eat or drink after being trapped in a mine for 17 days, 2,000 feet below the earth’s surface.

Last week we looked at a life changing vision Isaiah experienced when he was called by God to be His personal friend. After that day, Isaiah’s life changed drastically. It was wonderful to at last be in God’s wholesome presence and have His unconditional love. Now Isaiah knew why he was born and that he was to walk with his Lord all his days. Interesting also that his name meaning, “God is Salvation” was being fulfilled.
