Oh, so many things to say

Grandson Adam and his parents just returned to Seattle from their trip to Florida for a wedding.  (They missed the wedding but made the reception. Ah, the wonders of flight!)

I offered to spend an evening with him (Aren’t I generous!) while his parents went out.  He stood at the door howling pitifully when mama left, which was not my favorite part of the evening.

He’s supposed to run into my arms!

Adam’s choice of toy that evening? The gallon-size food dish of the family mastiff, Kierra.

Adam sat on the floor scooping up handfuls of dry dog food, scattering it around the kitchen, while the dog snored and drooled in the living room. (I distracted Adam from the dog food corner only when I located his bongo drums!)

Granddaughter Annika soon will finish first grade.  This summer, she and her mom and I--and perhaps Aunt Lisa and baby Adam-- are renting a cabin on the Oregon Coast for nearly a week.  (I doubt Annika is as excited as her mother and I am!)

But I’m also eager for a visit to Idaho soon. (Tonight I believe there’s a forecast for the high 20s there!  What?)

Here at home, I attended the Edmonds Mural Society gala unveiling five new murals set to appear this summer in our great little downtown.  It was an evening of enthusiastic good will.

After those five murals?  Five more!

Thanks to Manya Vee for bringing the concept of murals to Edmonds and building support for the project. A grand way to draw visitors to Edmonds.

I’ve mentioned the Saturday, June 12 car show to benefit our local food bank. I think most of us who work at the food bank have signed up to work at the event, to be held at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers Street, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For only $15, owners of pre-1981 cars can just show up in their beautiful toys and register on site.

Then for the next few hours, they can talk car talk with the spectators and take chances on countless raffle prizes, while eating 50-cent hot dogs and enjoying free coffee.

Can’t beat that!

What else is on my mind? Four new cats have become associate members of Edmonds Friends of the Library.  Welcome to Finnegan, Pyewacket, Kona and Pele and their people.

And thanks to our only corporate member so far, VanHollebeke Financial.

The Friends encourage other businesses to join, too.

Times are not easy, and our library fills a lot of gaps in family entertainment, computer access and special programs.

Go, Library!

Sunday was the annual variety show at Edmonds United Methodist Church. I think we all need to laugh more than we do.

We laughed A LOT on Sunday afternoon, as well as enjoying diverse talents from all ages.

Does your church do a variety show?
It may be time to start!

I am out of space long before I am out of things to write.
