Welcome to Edmonds! Locally owned and operated Hamburger Harry's just opened here and is already doing a bang-up business.
Located at 610 - 5th Avenue South, the long vacant ex-restaurant location was completely re-furbished by owner-brothers Bobby, Quinn and Michael Mitchell and their partner John Sullivan.
Two of the brothers (Bobby and Michael) live in Edmonds and are pleased to finally be a part of the business community here.
The Mitchell family has a long history of being in the restaurant business with their now-retired father, Mark, and his brother Dave, well known as "The Mitchell Brothers," having operated several including the famous Windjammer at Shilshole Marina.
The three sons and their partner decided on pursuing that business when they opened the very successful Hamburger Harry's in Ballard to enthusiastic accolades from the community.
With that business doing well they determined to open one in their home territory and ... voila! ... Hamburger Harry's is now another fine Edmonds eatery. When my wife and I went there for lunch, only a couple days after they first opened their doors, the place was packed with happy diners.
In a short conversation with him, Bobby was pleased to report that they are already far exceeding their most optimistic projections.
Part of their secret of success is their smiling, helpful and effervescent waitresses. They truly make one feel welcome and appreciated.
They provide prompt service and seem genuinely interested in how diners are treated.
Their lengthy, family style menu includes such down home meals (like Mama used to make) as Meatloaf, Pot Roast, and Mac 'n' Cheese just to mention a few that are not readily available in many restaurants.
Their gourmet hamburgers aren't hamburgers at all ... they are ground chuck burgers. For those who enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail with their meal, the restaurant has a fully stocked bar. And ... their meal prices seem quite competitive.
The final check was not a shock.
Need more? They love kids. In their fun outdoor dining area, they have added a large sand box completely loaded with toys for a couple dozen little scudders.
Welcome to Edmonds, Hamburger Harry's! We look forward to joining you for lunch or dinner from time to time.
