Birding float trip offered
Take a Pacific Northwest Float Trips guided birding adventure on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Meet in La Conner and float through the Skagit River Estuary. Surrender Your Stress class
Mondays, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 1 and 15.
The class takes you through proven stress relief methods beginning with very gentle Yoga relaxation techniques. Once relaxed you are then led into a time of meditation with soft music.

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee tells the story of eight young people in the throes of puberty (overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves) who learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.
A musical comedy by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin, the original Broadway production of Spelling Bee, received two Tony Awards, "Best Book" and "Best Featured Actor." The brilliant score and hilarious book are sure to put a skip in your step, a laugh on your lips, and just might bring out the kid in you.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, directed by students Isaiah Corey and Charles Simpson, features a cast of 11 talented actors, ages 14-18.
Performances are at 7 p.m. on March 5, 6, 12, 13 and matinee performances at 2 p.m. on March 7 and 13.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Senior Softball Players
The City of Edmonds is looking for Senior Softball players. If you’re a male over the age of 55 or a female over the age of 50 and looking to play softball, you found the right place. The leagues have players from 55 up to 80 years old. It runs from May thru July and games are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 or 11:30 a.m. at Meadowdale Playfields in Lynnwood.
Softball Leagues
The City of Edmonds is running adult Men’s Upper, Lower, 45+ and Coed
Softball Leagues. Leagues start March 23 with all games played at Meadowdale Playfields. The $625 league fee includes 10 USSSA officiated games with the top 4 in each division advancing to playoffs. Registration is ongoing.
Co-Rec Competitive Volleyball League
The City of Edmonds is running a Co-Rec competitive Volleyball league on Tuesday nights at the Edmonds Community College Gym starting March 30. The $250 league fee includes a 7-week round-robin with a season ending tournament for all teams.
3 on 3 Basketball League
The City of Edmonds is running a 3 on 3 half-court Basketball league on Wednesday nights starting March 31. With a 33 game schedule with a 2 point line and offense calls the fouls. The top six teams advance to a single elimination tournament. League fee is $235/team.

Foundation presents Spring Luncheon
The Public Education Foundation for the Children of the Edmonds School District will be holding their Spring Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on March 5, at the Lynnwood Convention Center.
Keynote speaker will be Laura Kastner. Ph.D, author of “Getting to Calm: Cool-headed Strategies for Life.”
Dr. Kastner is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavior Sciences at the University of Washington. She is a nationally recognized expert on teen behavior and development.

Safe Boating courses offered
The Everett Sail & Power Squadron will be conducting the USPS Safe Boating course on March 6, 13, and 20 from 8 a.m. - noon.

A Helping Hand For Haiti
The Edmonds-Woodway Senior Class is hosting a dinner to help the Haitian relief efforts on Tuesday, March 16, at Edmonds-Woodway High School 7600 212th ST SW Edmonds.
The dinner is from 6 – to 8:30 p.m.
Local Edmonds restaurants will be catering the event and there will be entertainment.
The Red Cross will get 100 percent of the proceeds.
The cost is $5 w/ Student ID, $7 Adults, 5 and under are free.

Run to support SnoCo Search and Rescue
On May 23, the usually quiet and serene Centennial Trail is set to become the new buzz of Snohomish when a group of local moms, joined by hundreds of runners, moves forward in an effort to support the local Search and Rescue team. The Monkey Run 5k celebrates its debut event with fitness and community at the forefront of its mission.
The team of women behind this event consists of dedicated mothers that joined forces to create Proud Monkey Events, an organization with a mission to promote wellness in the lives of others.
This race is making an effort to raise community interest in health and in supporting local organizations, by offering weekly running meetings, a couch-to-5k training program, and the Monkey Run 5k race.
This year, race proceeds will help support Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue, an organization dedicated to helping lost hikers, children, climbers and more.
The race starts at 10 a.m. on May 23 at Centennial Trail in Snohomish.

Spring Fashion Show celebrating “A Day In Edmonds”
Join the Edmonds Merchants, local restaurants and community participants for their Spring Fashion Show titled “A Day In Edmonds”.
They will be showcasing fashions and accessories from local merchants highlighting what’s hot for spring from morning, noon and night.
The Fashion Show will be held Sunday, April 18, at the Edmonds Yacht Club at 326 Admiral Way. Festivities begin at noon and a light lunch and drink will be served, followed by a silent auction, raffles and more.
All proceeds from the spring fashion show go to fund and support local Edmonds community activities and events.

Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County presents a
Five-week community education and volunteer training class in
Everett. Classes will be held from April 19, – May 17.
Classes meet Monday evenings 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 24 - 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at a downtown Everett location.
Classes are provided free of charge to volunteers willing to commit to ten hours of volunteer time within a 6-month period for Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County.

Scholarships available to high school seniors interested in teaching
The Sno-King School Retirees are again offering four scholarships open to the graduating seniors of Edmonds, Northshore, and Shoreline School Districts who are planning a career in education. The scholarships are for $1200 each and that amount is renewable for three years as long as the student continues to meet the scholarship’s criteria of a career in education.
One student will be chosen from each of the three school districts with one at-large award. These scholarships are now in the high schools and can be submitted by mail until the deadline of March 19. Fun and meaningful volunteer opportunities are available, helping local senior citizens by helping at the South County Senior Center. One area in immediate need of assistance is the Thrift Store where both clerks and cashiers are needed. Retail experience is helpful, but we will be happy to train you for the job. Opportunities for both paid instructors and volunteers include: instructors for watercolor classes, a licensed massage therapist for seated chair massage, an instructor for a self-publishing writers group, and computer instructors.
